Fishertown man charged for assaulting troopers while trying to harm himself, PSP says

State police in Bedford County say a Fishertown man is behind bars after he was accused of assaulting multiple troopers who were trying to prevent him from harming himself.

According to the affidavit, troopers were dispatched to a residence in East St. Clair Township, on the morning of July 4th, after receiving a report that 34-year-old Joseph Gorsuch was attempting to harm himself.

Investigators say the troopers arrived at the home and witnessed Gorsuch reportedly harming himself with a knife.

Troopers say Gorsuch was then placed into custody in an attempt to prevent him from harming himself further.

Police say Gorsuch then began kicking and striking the troopers, and even reportedly bit one of them on the hand.

According to online court records, Gorsuch was arraigned Wednesday on multiple counts of felony aggravated assault.

He is being held at the Bedford County Jail on $250,000 bail.
